Getting Here

FROM BRECON
From Brecon follow the A470 towards Builth Wells for approximately 4 miles, continue onto the A438 for Hereford, and follow signs for Hay-on-Wye. After passing Bronllys continue for approx 1.5 miles into Three Cocks still on the A438. Immediately after the Three Cocks Hotel turn right and follow the brown signs marked Tregoyd. Follow the signs for approx 1.5 miles until you reach a T-junction opposite the Tregoyd Trekking Centre and Tregoyd House PGL Centre. Turn Left and drive for approx 0.5 miles until reaching a crossroad, turn right towards Hay Bluff and Capel-y-Ffin. Follow this road for about 2 miles and signpost for Capel-y-Ffin Mountain Road. Carry on along this road, cross the Cattle grid and onto the open mountain. Continue for approx 1 mile until you see the entrance to Caemarchog on your left.

FROM HAY ON WYE
Access from Hay on Wye, is via a narrow road sign posted Capel-y-Ffin, Abergavenny. This is a single lane, road with passing places, and some steep inclines, carry on along this road for approximately three miles ignoring the left hand turning for Craswell. After reaching the open hill under Hay Bluff, continue on route for approximately 0.75 miles until sighting a large parking area on your right hand side. Turn right at the junction and continue for another mile cross the twin streams and continue for another 0.25 miles where you will see the drive that leads down to the house and the barn on your right.  

FROM ABERGAVENNY
through the Black Mountains
From Abergavenny follow the A465 for approx 4 miles towards Hereford, turn left for Llanvihangel Crucorney. Take a left turn for Llanthony and Capel-y-Ffin follow this road for approx 15 miles; you will pass through, Cwmyoy, Llanthony and Capel-y-Ffin on route. After Capel-y-Ffin follow signs for Hay on Wye, after approx 5 miles of climbing you should be starting the decline along the Gospel pass with Hay bluff to your right. 

NOTE FOR WINTER MONTHS
The House is located at over 1500ft above sea level, so during the winter months expect snow and ice. A short hike may be necessary to complete your journey if you don’t have a 4x4. In the event of freezing conditions, access via the Brecon route is normally the best maintained.
PLEASE NOTE

The huts are in a woodland clearing at the lower end of Cae Marchog farm, home to The House in the Hills, hidden from view beside Digedi Book. When using SatNav,  the postcode HR3 5RJ will leave you roughly a half of a mile short of the House in the Hills (Caemarchog). Please continue along the road, cross the twin streams and continue for another quarter of a mile where you will see the drive that leads down to the house and the barn on your right.  

FROM BRECON

Take a left turn for Llanthony and Capel-y-Ffin follow this road for approx 15 miles; you will pass through, Cwmyoy, Llanthony and Capel-y-Ffin on route.
