Introducing the Huts

Huts in the Hills

The huts are a special place to stay if you love wildlife, nature and the great outdoors. In total there are four sleeping huts and one communal hut.

Three sleeping huts and the communal hut are arranged around a central stone firepit with a BBQ grill. The sleeping huts each have a wood-burning stove and a comfortable double bed.

At the back of the communal hut is a modern compost loo, a sink and shower with water heated by the wood-burning stove.

All the huts are fully insulated and designed to be cosy, comfortable and environmentally sustainable.

A wood-burning stove provides hot water for the kitchen and shower room. A hybrid system consisting of a wind turbine and solar panels provides power. Water is supplied by a nearby natural spring. Grey water is treated via a compost toilet and sand filter.

Biodegradable soaps and cleaning products are provided. To avoid contamination of the stream, only these biodegradable products can be used at the huts.

Recycling facilities are provided.

Badgers, hares, pheasants, buzzards, kites, partridges, foxes, and bats all make their home around the huts. Each hut is named after a wild animal or bird that you can expect to see or hear at some point during your stay (particularly at night!).
